Holy cow! Sunday is here again! This week, while taxing, seemed to fly by! I started my new position, requiring me to be at work at 3:45 AM every morning. I’m fine with the hours, but the new responsibilities really take the energy right out of me. If you noticed my bout of absence from social media yesterday, that was me breaking down and doing nothing but playing video games during my time off. I just couldn’t find the strength to do much of anything real.
I’m actually concerned that with NaNo coming up, that I might just crash and burn… Fate and muse! Please don’t let that be the case! I have plenty of great material, I just hope I remain coherent enough to connect the dots. “It’s called reading! Top to bottom, left to right… a group of words together is called a sentence. Anywho!!! You guys didn’t come here to here me whine about life. Or maybe you did. Either way, I’ve got you here now, and you will read my six sentences for this week. Or don’t I guess. Go on, just hit that little X at the top and all this goes away… NO! Wait! Don’t leave me please… Please just read my six sentences. PLEASE!?!?

The room was warm. The fire crackling in the fireplace kept the chill of the storm at bay. The firelight made the shadows dance around the room, jumping off of the varying bookcases and the pair of chairs that were placed in front of the fireplace. It was a room he was very familiar with, even though he had been gone for almost five years. It was a room that should have given his shaken mind some comfort, but then, there was the blood.
There was so much blood.

Wow, at work by 3:45am? That’s crazy!
I like the six sentences. You establish atmosphere almost instantly, ground the reader with the character, and then throw everything out of whack with the blood.
See, that is exactly what I’m talking about! Not right now of course, but every once in a while I realize that I cannot explain what my writing is doing. Then someone like you comes along and explains it in a way that really makes me feel like I’m doing something right! Thanks!
I like analyzing. 🙂 It helps me with my writing and I always try to phrase things so that my take gives the writer a different perspective.
